Veterans Addendum to the Catalog

Paul Mitchell The School Schenectady will permit any covered individual to attend or participate in the course of education during the period beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the educational institution a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 and ending on the earlier of the following dates:

  1. The date on which the Department of Veterans Affairs provides payment for such course of education to such institution.
  2. The date that is 90 days after the date on which the educational institution certifies for tuition and fees following receipt from the student such certificate of eligibility

Re-enroll students who have completed Core will start in the same academic standing as when they left.

Paul Mitchell The School Schenectady will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement of funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans Attendance Policy

Students utilizing VA benefits must maintain 85% attendance or they will be dropped.

Veterans Satisfactory Academic Policy

Regular attendance is required and recorded.All absences are recorded, regardless of reason.Good attendance is critical to successful completion of the program. All students must maintain at least an 80% attendance rate to meet satisfactory attendance progress. Any student not in their seat at the scheduled start time of any class session will be considered tardy. Any student leaving school before their official dismissal will be marked tardy. Four (4) tardies equal one (1) absence.Student attendance will be monitored and reviewed after each 25% of the program, if found to be falling below 80% in attendance, student will be placed on probation for the next 25% of the program. Any student not meeting the 80% attendance requirement during this probation period will be terminated.

Grading Scale 

It is Paul Mitchell The School Schenectady’s goal that every student is successful in their course work. The following scale is used by Paul Mitchell The School Schenectady to assess student’s projects, homework, quizzes, tests, practical aspects, and etc.

     
Lab Projects 80% or Higher Passing
Weekly Homework 80% or Higher Passing
Average of Quizzes 80% or Higher Passing
Tests 80% or Higher Passing
Practical Exam 80% or Higher Passing

80% is considered passing, make up assignments and retakes are the students’ responsibility and a private meeting with the instructor will be required in order to evaluate student’s current situation Students will be given written and verbal warnings to complete missing assignments.Student academic progress is monitored and reviewed at each 25% of the program, if found to be falling below 80%, student will be placed on probation for the next 25% of the program. Any student still not meeting academic progress requirements in this probation period will be terminated from course enrollment.

Probation and Termination Policies:

If a student receiving VA benefits is terminated from course enrollment due to attendance or academic progress, this will be reported to the VA and benefits will be terminated. Additionally, if a student receiving VA educational benefits are granted an approved Leave of Absence, this will interrupt VA educational benefits during the leave. The leave of absence must be in writing and the date of expected return must be specified.
